Apple makes it easy to locate your IMEI number. Here are the various methods you can use to track it down.
With the Phone
For older phones, Apple printed the number directly on the back, so you should have no problem spotting it if you flip it over. However, you won’t find it there if you own one of the following models:
iPhone 6s/6s Plus
iPhone 7/7 Plus
iPhone 8/8 Plus
iPhone X/XS/XR
Whether you have one of these phones, or you don’t want to remove the case of your older phone, you can find the IMEI of any model under General Settings. If you tap the About header and scroll down, you’ll find it near the bottom of the list.
Without the Phone
In situations where you’re unable to use the phone, you do still have options to locate the IMEI. If it was a recent purchase, you can check the box that the device came in. Your receipt may mention this number as well.
Once the box is thrown out, you’ve still got one last approach you can try. On your computer, iTunes stores this information for any device you’ve connected to it. If you’ve ever used the program to organize or transfer music, you should be able to find it here. Launch the program, go to Preferences, which is located under the main iTunes menu. Select the Device tab and hover over your phone. It should pop up within seconds.
